We will be following the Ohio issued guidelines for summer camps.
Class sizes are reduced, and masks are required in some areas, so all children will be required to bring a mask each day. Students will not be required to wear a mask during camps in the main classroom. However, they must wear a mask going to the rest room and during pick-up and drop off. Children will be seated 6 feet apart and will need to remain seated throughout the camp. They will not be permitted to walk around. If you KNOW that your child can not remain seated for 2 hours, or will not wear a mask voluntarily, please do not send them to camp. We will have a zero tolerance for breaking these rules. And the student will be asked to leave the camp without a refund possibility. Please understand, this is for everyone’s safety. We are offering virtual camps as an alternative,
Each student will be given their own supplies to use during the week. We are requesting students bring a shoe box. for this purpose. When a student leaves for the day, the table and chair will be sanitized by the teacher. All snacks will be eaten at their seat. We will not be using aprons, so campers are encouraged to wear old cloths.
Students will be required to wear a mask in the main studio for pottery wheel. All wheels are 6 feet apart and spread out among 2 rooms. There will be reduced class size, but we will still have 2 teachers. Again, supplies will not be shared. Each person will have their own set of tools, sponge and towel for the week. It will be up to them to keep them clean. Students will be asked to bring in a shoebox or plastic container to hold these items. There will be a thorough sanitizing process after a camper leaves the wheel. As usual, the campers will clean their area and then the teacher will do the sanitizing process. We will make every effort to keep students 6 feet apart.
Teachers will always wear a mask when close to the children. We will have stations for frequent sanitizing of hands in the classroom.
Pick up and drop off procedures will be as follows. A caravan drop off procedure will be used. Please remain in your car. Each child’s temperature will be taken before they get out of the car by the teacher. Another teacher will escort the student to his/her seat in the classroom. Pick up will also be caravan style. When you pull up to the deck to pick up your student, you will tell the teacher the child’s name and she will bring the student to your car.
Kids who have signed up for all day and are planning to eat lunch at the Workshop, need to bring an activity, book or device to using during the hour lunch period. If it is possible for the student to go home for lunch, that is strongly encouraged. We will have to limit socializing during the lunch hour and that means, students must remain seated 6 feet apart.
Regretfully, we must ask that 4 and 5-year-old children not be sent to camp this year. We do not believe that it is possible to keep them truly safe in our environment. So, camps for this age will be changed to age 6 and up. Of course, a refund or credit will be given.
This is a hugely different kind of camp than what everyone is used to at the Workshop. We will do our best to conduct a fun camp in the safest way possible.
